Well folks, the fat lady has sung, and after the dust settled at Raven Lounge, the crowd and guest judge, DJ Honkytron declared me the IRON DJ winner over my opponent DJ Ferno (www.djferno.com).  It was my first time meeting Ferno, and I had nothing to judge my opponent on, other than I knew he was a protege of the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff.  So naturally I was a bit nervous.  I’ve never actually competed in a DJ battle.  Mostly because a lot of battles are based around turntablism and not wordplay… I’m not a turntablist by any means.  But I do pride myself in my knowledge of music of all genres. MY CRATES GO DEEP!!!  LOL….  So I was fairly confident that I’d give Ferno a challenge.  Ferno won the coin flip and chose to go first.  The “secret ingredient” ended up being “colors.”  Which meant that we had to put together the best 30 minute set that showcased music that had to do with colors.  Ferno took the decks and dropped some gems like Prince’s Purple Rain & Elvis’ Blue Suede Shoes then went deep by associating west coast hip-hop with the gang colors of the Bloods and Crips.  He put on a good show, and even threw in some theatrics.  So I knew I had to really flex my musical muscles and bring my A-game.  And this is the multi-genre, 30 minute, 45 track set that I put together on the fly….
